MAC’s classic setting mist range has been given a dewy upgrade in the form of Fix+ Magic Radiance All Day Hydrating Spray + Vitamin C!
MAC Fix+ Spray has gained cult status as a multi-tasking workhorse that hydrates, refreshes, and sets make up. As well as extending its wear time. It comes in a variety of scents and formulas, and now Mac has added Magic Radiance Fix+ to the line. A Fix + that is specifically designed to add that extra boost of hydration and dewiness to your make up look? I’m here for that!
But how does it measure up to the original MAC Fix + spray? Ive given it a go to find out!
The claims
According to MAC this mist imparts ultra-hydration as well as a radiance boost that gives you soft, supple, glowing skin.
- It also immediately increases hydration by 196%
- Improves hydration at 8 hours by 131%
- Improves skins luminosity and radiance by 68%
It contains hyaluronic acid (hurrah!) and vitamin C to plump and rehydrate your skin. It also claims to be weightless and suitable for all skin types.
Fix+ original vs Fix+ Magic Radiance
Just like Magic Radiance the Original Fix+ is also designed to hydrate, refresh and set your makeup. What it doesn’t have however is the hyaluronic acid that we all know immediately boosts hydration. This for me immediately puts Magic Radiance ahead of the original! Another aspect the original lacks is Vitamin C which again we know has amazing glow-boosting properties, another big tick. But with all these glow-inducing ingredients can it possibly provide the make-up setting and fixing power of the original Fix+?

I have dry skin and therefore I am always seeking that glow! So I definitely ordered Fix+ Magic Radiance All Day Hydrating Spray with very high expectations!
MAC says that Fix+ Magic Radiance All Day can be used in 2 different ways – under makeup, as a sort of hydrating spray, or on top of your base to set your look. So to give it a full test I have tried both ways.
My review
I found that when I used under my makeup as a dewy mist it did definitely feel hydrating and plumping, and my products settled nicely on top. Additionally, my skin also felt comfortable all day. However, I didn’t notice much of an increase in the staying power of my foundation, after 8 hours or so I was looking a bit patchy.
I found that where it really shines is when it’s used on top of your make up to set and provide that coveted glow. I use a radiant foundation, as I might have mentioned glowing skin is always my goal, so my base is already fairly dewy looking. However, this spray definitely takes it up a notch and gives it a real glowy, radiant plump look that I personally love! My skin also felt super hydrated and moisturised all day.
It feels really comfortable on top of make-up and doesn’t add any weight or oiliness. My skin also looks more even and perfect after applying the Fix+ Magic Radiance, with less visible pores and fine lines, which again I absolutely love. It also smells pretty, very light and refreshing. It’s hard to really show on camera but in the before and after pictures you can see more of a glow on my forehead and under my eyes, compared to the more matte look of the before picture. My make up also stayed fairly flawless for my full 8 hour working day, so it definitely adds some staying power!
Before After Fix+ Magic Radiance
The (slight) negatives
Where it slightly falls down, and only slightly, in comparison to the original is the mist itself. The original Fix+ is a gorgeous fine mist that doesn’t feel like it would shift your make up as it’s so lightweight. The Fix+ Magic Radiance is definitely wetter and less mist-like. This in itself isn’t a bad thing, presumably, it’s just to do with the heavier consistency of the product. But it definitely means its a bit less refreshing and pleasant to spray on your face than the original!
Additionally, as it does add so much extra glow it may not be ideal for those with oilier skin, as the T zone could become too shiny. But for those with ‘normal’ or dry skin like me then it’s a lovely extra boost of hydration and dewiness!

Final thoughts
Overall, I really like this product. It has all the staying power benefits of the original Fix+, but with an extra boost of hydration and glow for those that crave that. I’ll definitely repurchase!
Price-wise its slightly more expensive than the original Fix+ – retailing at £24 compared to £22. However, I think this is because it has the added hyaluronic acid and vitamin C, so to me it’s worth the small extra cost. Plus compared to some other setting sprays around now its actually a fairly reasonable price for what you’re getting.

I was so excited when I saw a hyaluronic acid version. I have very dry skin too so usually setting sprays are a no go for me, unless they’re more of a refreshing mist not actually designed to help makeup at all. Unfortunatey my skin is super senstive to vitamin C so I’ll have to pass on this one but I’m glad you’re loving it! It sounds like a great alternative to the original, and totally worth the extra £2 for the added ingredients x

Oh then definitely pass on this then! The other MAC Fix+ sprays are really great aren’t they- you can’t go wrong with the original!
I’ve never used one of these but they sound really good! I struggle with dry skin and always try to get a bit of a glow so this sounds like something I’d love! x
Definitely worth a try, getting all that hydration under your make up makes such a difference! And I love it for a quick boost of moisture to freshen up my skin during the day!
