By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder is fairly iconic – it’s hydrating, imperfection blurring, weightless formula has legions of fans worldwide. And now By Terry has added a long anticipated pressed powder to the range. But can it live up to expectations?
The weightless silky texture of By Terry’s Hyaluronic Pressed Hydra-Powder is designed to blur imperfections in the skin, while also setting your make up base. It also banishes shine and creates a flawless finish to foundation. Containing hyaluronic acid – the hydrating powerhouse, it helps it to plump up skin and reduce the look of fine lines. As well as this it also uses Mica Pearls to diffuse light and provide that second skin look and feel. It’s also vegan and suitable for all skin types. And comes in a convenient travel friendly case containing a mirror and powder puff applicator. Is there anything it doesn’t do?!
How to use
The Instructions state that the powder should be focussed on the t-zone where the skin is naturally oilier, and then more lightly across the rest of the face. It should be pressed directly onto oily areas so that make up is perfectly set for the day ahead. Apply directly after primer to control shine, or on top of makeup to set it in place.
My preference is to use a large powder brush to press the powder into my skin. A tip I received from a makeup artist friend – swishing the brush across your face only disturbs your foundation and moves the powder around, rather than pushing it into your skin, which is the aim! The powder puff applicator that comes with it does an OK job for touch ups while out and about. I don’t enjoy using it for my full face application in the morning however.
It’s hard not to love this product! Firstly it looks gorgeous, classy and expensively weighty; the compact is sleek and contains a good sized mirror which is so handy for on the go re-application.
As per the product claims it really is invisible when applied! The colourless powder blurs into your skin and immediately smooths and evens out your skin tone. Without it looking like you have any powder on at all. Id liken it to it suddenly looking like you’ve has a nice Instagram filter applied to your skin!
It also is completely lightweight and comfortable on my skin. And with the added hyaluronic acid it feels hydrating and gorgeously soft, while at the same time immediately removing any shine. I have fairly dry skin so I was slightly wary of the mattifying aspect of this powder; I try to make my skin as glowy as possible so anything too matte isn’t for me. However, there’s nothing to be concerned about here because although it does indeed reduce shine, it also adds a lovely luminous finish that doesn’t look at all dry or dull!
With this powder on top my foundation feels nicely set and it really doesn’t add any weight at all, again something I’m not keen on with many powders. The ease of this being a pressed powder is something I’m a huge fan of, loose powders can be messier for someone as clumsy as me, but this is lovely and mess free! And the packaging is truly beautiful. I find it hard to really capture on camera just how lovely a finish this gives my skin! I’m so pleased with how my skin looks in this, that I’ve included it anyway!
Overall I would be hard pressed to find anything about the By Terry Hyaluronic Pressed Hydra-Powder that I don’t like. It exceeded my expectations in all ways and it’s a real pleasure to use. It is in the upper range price wise, at £38 for 7.5g, however I do definitely see it as an investment and if you can afford then it’s a must buy!
